Rev. Jay Thomas Weigel is married to Kay Carpenter Weigel. He has two grown children: A married daughter and husband who live in Charlotte, NC and a son who lives in Chicago, IL. Jay's parents reside in Carmel, IN. His two sisters and their families live in Sacramento, CA and Scottsdale, AZ.
His education accomplishments include Carmel High School, Class of 1977; Indiana University, Class of 1981, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing & Advertising; and a Master of Divinity degree from Erskine Theological Seminary, Class of 1985.
Over his 28 years of ministry, he has served Presbyterian churches in New Albany, MS, Wrens, GA, and, for the last 20 years, in Charlotte, NC.
In addition to leading churches, Jay enjoys serving in Presbytery and has experience in a variety of leadership positions including serving as Presbytery moderator twice, as well as serving on several different presbytery committees. He was the longtime coordinator for Senior Adult Ministries, as well as serving on the staff for Middle School retreats.
His personal interests include being a fan of most sports, especially following the Carolina Panthers, the Cincinnati Reds and the Indiana Hoosiers. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, exercising, doing mystery shops, traveling on back roads, cooking, and reading science fiction and mystery books.
His favorite Bible verse is from Galatians 2:20, "The life I live in the body I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me." (Galatians 2:20)
